To mark the start of the season, the Alte Oper welcomes you to a 10-day festival that redefines concert formats and seeks to initiate a vibrant dialogue between the audience and artists. Yet, ‘Fratopia’ is not just a testing ground for innovative concepts that allow for new ways of experiencing music in the concert hall; it is also a commitment to this venue in the heart of the city, a venue open to the questions that touch people’s lives here and to the challenges that an urban concert venue must face in the 21st century. So, for example, the ‘Open Space’ series offers exciting encounters between audience and orchestra, between classical music and jazz, while an ‘Ideas Marathon’ provides a day of discussion on future visions of Frankfurt.
