WHAT THE FRIENDS DO
As a FRIEND of the Alte Oper, you will be invited to many exclusive events, e.g. to our biennial members' meetings followed by a soirée in the Großer Saal of the Alte Oper. Our "Lieblingsstück" has been gaining more and more friends for eighteen years, because: Who doesn't care what favorite piece Christine Lagarde, the President of the European Central Bank, for example, wants? But the FREUNDE Apéro series, where we always encounter music in connection with other arts or sciences, is also particularly well received. At regular intervals we invite all new members to a "Welcome to the FRIENDS" followed by a guided tour of the Alte Oper. In the current season program we organize special introductions and discussions with the artists.
At the annual "Vorschau des Intendanten auf die kommende Saison" in the Mozart Saal of the Alte Oper, you will find out exclusively and before the press what program the new season has to offer. For the first time in 2016 we offered a music trip to the opera festival in Savonlinna, which was fully booked within hours. Another music trip took place in July 2018, this time going to the Latvian Song and Dance Festival in Riga and in 2022 to the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence in southern France. The FRIENDS Orchestra meets for special projects and then plays in the Mozart Hall or even in the Großer Saal of the Alte Oper. Committed FRIENDS are always needed there.
The FRIENDS of the Alte Oper are also pleased that a separate offer has been created for young adults: the CLUB 35. Self-organized and in cooperation with the Alte Oper, the CLUB 35 is a meeting place for interested career starters and academics who want to enjoy the diverse program of the beautiful with like-minded people want to explore the house. Partners, friends and colleagues are welcome to bring along to CLUB members' events. The CLUB 35 is invited to all FREUNDE der Alte Oper events and also to the CLUB 35 SELECTION. With the CLUB 35 SELECTION, the program of the Alte Oper is discovered and explored together. At many of the Alte Oper's own events in the Großer Saal, there is a special CLUB 35 table in the FREUNDE bar in the Clara Schumann Foyer during the concert breaks.
