Music of the world

Over all borders

The sails are set for a voyage of sound across the Indian Ocean to Africa and Asia - with stopovers on the islands of Madagascar and La Reunion. Seafarers and traders have been travelling these routes for centuries, taking not only spices and goods, but also their songs and instruments to the other side of the world. Many colonial artefacts remind us that the tropical beauty of the landscapes and music also has a darker side, which can still be felt today.
