BEHIND THE SCENES

An English-language pre-concert talk for and with international guests, with live jazz by Sebastian Scobel & Friends

The Konzerthausorchester Berlin has not performed at the Alte Oper for a long time. In fact, it has never performed in Frankfurt under the direction of its current conductor. It is time to change that. Joana Mallwitz has been conducting at Berlin's Gendarmenmarkt for three years now, and it is not only her performances there that have caught the attention of the contemporary classical music scene. The Opus Klassik winner has established herself as one of the world's leading female conductors and has played a decisive role in bringing a distinctly feminine touch to the conductor's podium. Another first encounter is also in focus this evening: Bomsori Kim will make her Alte Oper debut performing Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto, which the violinist considers to be the perfect example of the seamless interaction between violin and orchestra.
