Apart from that, our printed monthly programs provide you with comprehensive information about what is being performed. You can find them at all advance booking offices, but you can also browse through them online, download them or have them sent to you by post. If you really don't want to miss anything, we recommend that you subscribe to our newsletter so that you are always up to date on special offers and the latest news.

Admittedly, it is perhaps a little complicated: The Alte Oper is not only an event venue, but also an organizer itself. This means that the core events are conceived and organized by the Alte Oper team, but there are also numerous concerts by other organizers who rent the venue and its infrastructure.

In many cases, you probably don't want or need to know exactly who the organizer of a concert is. However, some of the information on topics such as discounts, subscriptions or RMV tickets relates exclusively to those events that are in our own hands. We therefore always point out at the relevant points that the conditions apply to our own events and that you should enquire about the conditions of other event organizers. Honestly: the best way to get there is by public transport. With a ticket for one of the Alte Oper's own events (see above), you can use the RMV free of charge to get to us. You can find out how to get to us by public transport, but also by car or bicycle, in our Getting here section

The Alte Oper opens its doors to the public one hour before the start of the event. You can also buy remaining tickets for the respective event at the box office in the Alte Oper from one hour before the concert begins.

Am besten wenden Sie sich direkt an unsere Hosts und Hostessen an den Saaltüren, die versuchen werden, Ihnen einen verspäteten Einlass zu ermöglichen. Je nach Konzert und Programm kann es allerdings sein, dass Sie sich bis zur Pause gedulden müssen. 

Ihr Anspruch auf den ursprünglichen, auf dem Ticket angegebenen Sitzplatz verfällt dann allerdings. 

If attending a concert is something special for you, you are welcome to show this with your outfit - the main thing is that you feel comfortable! At our concerts - whether symphony concerts, jazz or musicals - we take a relaxed approach and leave it up to you whether you appear in jeans and sneakers or in evening wear. 

If you are planning to come to the concert with a trolley, violin case or hiking rucksack: Your luggage is in good hands with our friendly hostesses at the checkroom. Unfortunately, large items of luggage may not be taken into the hall, partly for security reasons. 

Outside - of course! After all, the Alte Oper is probably one of the most photographed buildings in the city. In the concert hall, however, please leave your cell phone in your pocket, preferably switched off or muted. Image and sound recordings are not permitted for copyright reasons. Apart from that, glowing displays disturb the people sitting next to you and flashing lights disturb the people on stage. And anyway: isn't there something to be said for simply enjoying the moment and not constantly thinking about documenting it ...?

Of course we are well equipped: Our bars in the Clara Schumann Foyer (level 2) and in the Hindemith Foyer (level 3) have a nice selection of refreshing drinks before the concert and during the concert breaks. The bar in the Albert Mangelsdorff Foyer (Level 5) is also available during the concert breaks.

Light meals are available in the Clara Schumann Foyer. The Kuffler catering team also looks forward to welcoming you to the Rosso Suite (level 1) and the Opéra restaurant (level 3) outside of our concerts. Further information can be found here

Even babies are welcome! Our extensive PEGASUS programme for children and young people includes a series for children aged zero to three. 

The concerts in our regular programme are generally open to children aged 6 and over. (By the way, booster seats may not be taken into the concert hall.)Children aged 6 to 13 may only attend concerts if accompanied by a parent or guardian (or an adult with a power of attorney). Children aged 14 to 17 may attend concerts until midnight without a parent or guardian.
