With a new program, the Alte Oper Frankfurt invites children ages 8 to 12 and their families on exciting journeys of discovery into the world of music. On four Saturday mornings, the Albert Mangelsdorff Foyer will be transformed into a lecture hall. Entertaining, age-appropriate lectures explore fascinating background information about music. Why does music make movie scenes exciting? What happens in the brain when we listen to music? How did Beethoven work—and how does an orchestra actually function? With prominent guests from the music world and amazing experiments, the Children’s University brings music to life and makes it tangible.
