A jazz summit among kindred spirits: Cécile McLorin Salvant and Darcy James Argue have collaborated on various projects and are on the same wavelength artistically. Their musical vocabulary is characterised by stylistic diversity, technical brilliance, clarity and directness, as well as subtle nuances that can transform even a jazz standard. For this collaboration between our jazz artist-in-residence and the hr Big Band, Argue — the traditional Frankfurt ensemble's composer-in-residence — is responsible for the arrangements, dressing the three-time Grammy winner's consistently original songs in equally surprising big band attire.
