Premiere at '2 x Hören': For the first time, the subject of in-depth analysis is not a chamber composition, but an orchestral piece. In her interpretation of Mozart's Twelfth Piano Concerto and in a workshop discussion with artistic director Markus Fein, pianist Danae Dörken explores the depths of the piece and the intriguing spaces between the notes. When he wrote to his father, the composer himself provided the answer as to why one of Mozart's piano concertos from his middle period is predestined for '2×hören': 'The concertos strike the perfect balance between being too difficult or too easy. They are very brilliant – pleasant to the ear – without, of course, falling into emptiness. Here and there, connoisseurs alone can derive satisfaction – but in such a way that the uninitiated must be satisfied without knowing why." However, after the workshop discussion, this boundary is likely to have shifted: the uninitiated will become initiates who know exactly why they 'must be satisfied'!
