FLOW – Finale with musicians from the orchestra
The Orchester im Treppenhaus will open the 2026/27 season. This ensemble is shaking up the classical music scene with its innovative concepts, and has found a receptive audience at the Alte Oper. After all, the Alte Oper is already preparing for its big anniversary in 2030/31 under the motto 'House of the Future'.
The Hanover-based chamber orchestra has aptly named its current programme 'Kult' (cult), which playfully subverts the ritualistic nature of a classical concert. This concert performance exploits the full potential of the live music experience. We are suddenly transported from the opulent fairy tale of Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade to concentrated piano music.
We move from the contemplative Mendelssohn adagio of the 19th century to a wild ride through familiar themes and melodies on the solo accordion of the 21st century. “At its core, the music we play is truly wonderful,” says Thomas Posth, the orchestra's conductor and artistic director, summing up the programme in the stairwell. The relationship with the audience is just as important as the repertoire: pictogram cards directly involve concertgoers and encourage reactions that go beyond mere applause. According to Posth, the aim is to create a special 'cult community' for the evening to provide a comprehensive and wonderful experience.
Incidentally, this wonderful experience includes free admission to the entire evening, including the warm-up and finale in the Clara Schumann Foyer. All you need is an admission ticket, available in advance. Simply click on the ticket purchase button to do so.
