Programme
Sublime, festive and representative: these are the keywords that characterise the choral music composed by the Baroque master, George Frideric Handel, for royal and ceremonial celebrations in London. Entitled ‘Coronation & Celebration’, the evening will also celebrate amateur singing and constructive community spirit. The Enthusiastenchor, an initiative launched by the Alte Oper that brings together dedicated amateur singers, will take to the podium of the Great Hall. This provides a fitting setting for powerful choral works such as the anthem Zadok the Priest, which has been performed at every British coronation since 1727, including that of Charles III. Project participants are supported by students from the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts.
