In late May 2025, Ensemble Modern began a three-year residency at Prague Offspring, an experimental indoor festival organised by the renowned Prague Spring Festival. This presented the internationally oriented musicians from Frankfurt with a welcome opportunity to immerse themselves in the Czech and Slovak music scene, an exciting community of young talents bursting with musical imagination and creativity. Composers such as Pavel Šabacký, Barbora Tomášková and Slavomír Hořínka stand out in particular. Conducted by Ukrainian conductor Ustina Dubitsky, Ensemble Modern will perform works by these composers at their first subscription concert of the season at the Alte Oper. Alongside Marek Kopelent's 'Homage to Vladimír Holan' — an important figure in the Czech post-war avant-garde who was suppressed for a long time — they will be performed in Frankfurt for the first time. The concert coincides with the Book Fair, which this year welcomes the Czech Republic as its guest of honour.
