Tango Legacy
“You idiot!” Nadia Boulanger reportedly snapped at one of her most talented students. “Don’t you realise that this is the real Piazzolla...?” Astor Piazzolla had travelled from his native Argentina to Paris to take lessons from Boulanger and expose her to European music. However, the grande dame recognised that his talent would flourish most in tango. Nadia and her sister Lili were two of the most influential figures in French musical life, and have been role models for the Boulanger Trio since its foundation more than 20 years ago. Together with bandoneonist Omar Massa, who carries Piazzolla's artistic legacy into the 21 st century, the ensemble reunites one of its namesakes with her famous student in spirit, celebrating a stylish milonga at lunchtime.
The concert will last approximately 30 minutes, followed by refreshments in the foyer on levels 2 and 3 (included in the ticket price).
