The music world bows down before it. With his Partita for solo violin, BWV 1004, Johann Sebastian Bach created a piece of music so full of mystery and depth that there is hardly another like it. 'A whole world of deepest thoughts and most powerful feelings,' wrote Johannes Brahms of the famous Chaconne, the final movement of this series of stylised dances. In the '2 × hören' series (2 × listen), Veronika Eberle explores Bach and the Partita, performing two interpretations of it in one evening, which is like a marathon for the violin. The violinist describes the Chaconne as having 'emotional power', restrained by absolute clarity and compositional rigour. Together with artistic director Markus Fein, she explores the unique features of the piece.
