Important notice
Unfortunately, due to illness, Nodoka Okisawa will be unable to conduct the 1822 New Year's Concert. However, we are delighted that Michael Wendeberg has agreed to step in at short notice to take over the musical direction. The announced programme remains unchanged.

Programme
The Junge Deutsche Philharmonie welcomes the New Year with kettledrums, but above all with trumpets. Håkan Hardenberger, one of the world's leading trumpeters, is the soloist at the 1822 New Year's Concert, traditionally the first classical concert of the year at the Alte Oper. During his many successful years on stage, the Swede has not only cultivated the classical repertoire for his instrument, but has also championed contemporary music. One of the works created at his instigation is the trumpet concerto 'mirando multiplo' by Olga Neuwirth. It is deeply human and very catchy music that Olga Neuwirth wrote for him exactly 20 years ago," says Hardenberger of the piece. The same goes, of course, for THE classic of trumpet literature, Joseph Haydn's E-flat Major Concerto, with its catchy, feel-good finale.
