Performers
Richard Wagner occupied a very special place in Loriot's life. So it was only natural that he created his own entertaining summary of Wagner's 'Ring' operas, based on the motto 'What you always wanted to know about Siegfried'. He managed to condense Wagner's 16-hour epic into a single evening, finally shedding some light on the complicated plot in a humorous and astute manner.
For years, 'Der Ring an einem Abend', which Loriot often performed himself, has delighted Wagnerians and amateurs alike. Jan Josef Liefers, one of Germany's most popular actors, will lead us through the Ring of the Nibelung, which is set to premiere for the 150^(th) time in 2026. As the forensic scientist Dr. Boerne in the Münster Tatort series, Liefers has been incorporating Wagner operas into his work for over 20 years, teasing his colleague as Alberich. However, instead of playing Boerne, Liefers fully immerses himself in Wagner's world of the Nibelungs with Loriot's text. Major scenes from 'Das Rheingold', 'Die Walküre', 'Siegfried' and 'Götterdämmerung' are performed by a high-calibre ensemble of soloists and the Staatskapelle Weimar, conducted by Heiko Mathias Förster. Can Wagner's ‘Ring’ be performed in just over three hours? Yes, it can!
