Annette Schavan was involved in music education and school music for over ten years while serving as Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport in Baden-Württemberg. She then became Federal Minister of Education and Research, and she now draws on her many years of political experience in democratic educational initiatives, including her role as Chair of the Hertie Foundation's Board of Directors. However, music has always remained a constant in her life, so it is fitting that her personal 'favourite piece' is the subject of an upcoming concert at the Alte Oper Frankfurt. Annette Schavan will be joined by Dr Klement Tockner for an event in the 'My Favourite Piece' series. He is Director General of the Senckenberg Society for Nature Research and Professor of Ecosystem Sciences at Goethe University Frankfurt. Dr Tockner has been a member of the German Federal Government's Science Council since 2024.
