Lukas Sternath's debut at the Alte Oper in autumn 2024 was thanks to a stroke of luck. He agreed at the last minute to save a recital that was in danger of being cancelled due to a withdrawal. The Vienna-born pianist did not hesitate, travelling to Frankfurt to give a performance that left a lasting impression. His piano recital has now been planned well in advance, and anticipation is high. His exceptional talent was further confirmed in 2022 when he won first prize and seven special prizes at the ARD Music Competition, setting him apart from the multitude of excellent young pianists. This success has inspired him, but not allowed him to become complacent. The pianist radiates admirable calm and composure, even when tackling works such as Schubert's Wanderer Fantasy or Liszt's Années de pèlerinage. Welcome back, Lukas Sternath!
