Pure romance
British shooting star Sheku Kanneh-Mason, the promising offspring of what is probably London's most exciting musical family, presents himself to Frankfurt audiences once again this season with Camille Saint-Saëns' elegant cello concerto. His unprecedented career took off when he first emerged as the surprise winner of the television show ‘Britain's Got Talent’ and then wowed an audience of millions at the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Not exactly the usual path for a young graduate of the Royal Academy of Music ... However, the likeable musician and football lover has remained down-to-earth and approachable and enjoys playing with his six siblings just as much as with the world's best orchestras: the London Philharmonic Orchestra, for example, which adds Edward Elgar's concert overture ‘In the South’ and Sergei Rachmaninov's expansive and smouldering third symphony to this evening's romantic programme. (Pro Arte Frankfurter Konzertdirektion)
