As 2027 begins, the Neue Philharmonie Frankfurt is celebrating with its usual dash of fine humour, performing melodiously and energetically!
'Where the Lark Sings' takes us into the world of fauna: Johann Strauss and his contemporaries liked to draw inspiration from all things that flutter, crawl, hop and gallop. Waltzes about swallows, polkas about grumpy old bears and marches about the whole animal kingdom ensure cheerfulness and good humour. Meanwhile, virtuoso performances from the orchestra and two first-class vocal soloists provide breathtaking moments and dreamlike atmospheres.
Presented by principal conductor Jens Troester, 'Wo die Lerche singt' features evergreens such as 'Memory' from the musical 'Cats' and Henry Mancini's famous 'Pink Panther', alongside classics like the overture to 'Diebische Elster' and the fast-paced 'Hummelflug'. With highlights from works by Lehár, Kálmán and Offenbach, fans of operetta are sure to get their money's worth.
