With its New Year's programme ‘Roses from the South’, the Neue Philharmonie Frankfurt welcomed the New Year for the first time in the Alte Oper Frankfurt in 2025. In 2026, the orchestra will continue this tradition under the direction of Jens Troester with the programme ‘When the white lilacs bloom’. Once again, the programme promises waltzes, polkas, lively marches and spirited dances - in short, everything that makes audiences' hearts beat faster at classical concerts in the New Year.
In addition to popular works by Johann Strauss such as the Spring Voices and the lively Pizzicato Polka, Antonio Vivaldi's Spring or Edmund Eysler's Overture to ‘A Day in Paris’, the audience can look forward to countless other compositions and evergreens, especially from the early 20th century, the heyday of the cheerful muse and salon music. ‘With our ‘New Year's Concert’, we want to bring the spirit of the Viennese New Year's Concerts to life in Frankfurt,’ says conductor Troester. ‘We want to welcome in the new year with a cheerful programme and not give the winter blues a chance.’
As this year, the vocal parts will be performed by two outstanding soloists. Conductor Jens Troester will also present the concert with his unmistakable charm.
