Four talented villains - Romero Calzone, Al Arrabiata, Mozzarella and Diavolo - meet a young and clever music detective. Together, the actors set off in search of the secrets of musical interplay. The Alte Oper is bringing this humorous and adventurous musical theatre, which has already been awarded the ‘Junge Ohren Preis’ in Berlin, to Frankfurt as part of its ‘Klangforscher’ series for children aged six and over.
How does making music together work? Do you really only need sheet music? Or is there something else - something important? The four scoundrels seem to have lost this important something: everyone plays exactly what is written in the sheet music, but it just sounds awful. Their first performance on stage is just around the corner and if something doesn't happen very soon, the four of them are in for a huge embarrassment.
So help is needed! Music inspector Flunke from the super-smart department is just the right person - but the villains have to manage to keep their true identity a secret from the inspector. With her sure musical instinct, the clever Inspector Flunke follows every hot lead. She has to teach the rough guys essential skills such as tuning the instruments, breathing properly, a common rhythm and listening to each other. And because they are sometimes quite slow on the uptake, she urgently needs the audience's help!
