With 'Unterleuten' and 'Über Menschen', Juli Zeh has captivated millions of readers and sparked social debates far beyond the world of literature. Now her new novel, 'Pony Show' – published on 14 October 2026 by Luchterhand Verlag – is coming to Frankfurt in an extraordinary staged reading, with Nina Hoss and Mark Waschke lending their voices to this high-calibre work.
About 'Pony Show': A prominent publisher suspected of murder. A spectacular trial before a jury. And the central question: How negotiable is the truth? Betty and Fero are a perfect team – and an explosive partnership treading on thin ice. When Fero disappears and Betty is apprehended at the Hungarian border with a pistol and counterfeit money, the case seems clear-cut. The ‘Loverboy case’ lands before the Hamburg Assize Court and electrifies the public: does Betty’s case prove that women can be just as toxic as men – or is she the high-profile victim of a society that still puts freedom-loving women on trial?
This staged reading brings the material to life with particular intensity: Nina Hoss and Mark Waschke make the tensions, nuances and shifts in perspective of 'Pony Show' immediately audible. An evening for anyone wishing to experience great literature, clever suspense and acting of the highest calibre.
