Programme
When five top musicians at home on the world's great stages come together for a quintet evening of great masterpieces, audiences can expect something moving. Elisabeth Leonskaja, a Schubert interpreter of the highest calibre who has been closely associated with the Museum concerts for decades, works regularly with the Jerusalem Quartet, Israel's leading string quartet. We are delighted and honoured to present this ensemble for the first time in our chamber music series.
Their programme is entirely in the classical-romantic tradition and combines a triad of great masters: Franz Schubert's profound late piano pieces, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's accomplished 'Dissonance Quartet' with its enigmatic opening bars, and finally Antonín Dvořák's rousing piano quintet.
