Daniel Ottensamer, one of the world’s most distinguished clarinet soloists, will appear twice at the Museum Concerts during the 2026/27 season: as a soloist in a symphony concert at the end of the season, and as a chamber musician six months earlier. During the concert-free period of the coronavirus pandemic, he worked through virtually the entire clarinet trio repertoire with cellist Stephan Koncz and pianist Christoph Traxler. This comprises all the works composed for the exquisite combination of clarinet, cello and piano. The trio has recorded all of these pieces and released them on seven CDs under the title The Clarinet Anthology.

We are delighted to now be able to experience the centrepieces of this repertoire in Museums-Gesellschaft chamber concerts. These include Beethoven’s early and lively B-flat major trio, also known as the 'Gassenhauer Trio' due to a popular opera aria varied in the final movement; Magnus Lindberg’s Clarinet Trio, the most significant contemporary contribution; and the crowning glory of the genre: Johannes Brahms’s melancholic late work.
