Programme
Carolin Widmann is one of the most important and in-demand violin soloists, yet she also regularly finds time for exciting chamber music projects. This concert season marks her debut in the Museum Concerts series, where she will perform Richard Strauss’s Violin Concerto as a soloist in the symphony concerts and present a special piano quartet programme in the chamber music series.
The programme features Schubert's rarely performed Adagio and Rondo, the quartet by the gifted but short-lived Franck pupil Guillaume Lekeu, and Brahms's well-known Piano Quartet in G minor, which concludes with the famous 'Rondo alla Zingarese'. Her musical partners are the violist Nils Mönkemeyer and the cellist Julian Steckel, two string players who are already familiar to our audience from many previous concerts at the museum, as well as the pianist William Youn, a ‘poet at the piano’ and an exceptional interpreter of Schubert.
