Just one cello concerto in an evening? Anastasia Kobekina is happy to do more. She is bringing two works for cello and orchestra to Pro Arte. There doesn’t seem to be such a thing as ‘too much’ in the life of this bubbly bundle of energy. Her Instagram account offers a glimpse into an incredibly active artistic life. Communication is a matter close to the cellist’s heart: “For me, success isn’t just about playing on big stages, but first and foremost about forging a deep connection with the music and the audience.” Her radiant presence, curious openness and disarming naturalness make it easy for her to forge these close bonds. This is particularly true in Frankfurt: she found a new home here years ago and feels extremely at home in the city on the Main. It is therefore a home game when Anastasia Kobekina is a guest at Pro Arte, conjuring up not only a classic from the cello repertoire but also Stravinsky’s spirited “Suite italienne”.
