Capturing the vibe of the big city, the Alte Oper has created a programme that is no less dazzling and vibrant. The newly introduced 'Alte Oper Nights' festival is as diverse, lively, modern and accessible as Frankfurt itself. Artists and ensembles willing to 'think outside the box' and embrace unorthodox programmes and encounters between genres are invited to participate.
Consider the musicians of the Repercussion ensemble, who use electronic beats and sounds to expand their already broad sound spectrum. Then there's electric bassist Kinga Głyk, who effortlessly fuses elements of jazz, rock, blues and funk. The programme can be selected freely and also includes talks curated by the non-profit Hertie Foundation, as well as a combination of silent film and live music. In keeping with the festival's theme, the classic 'Berlin – Die Sinfonie der Großstadt' (Berlin – Symphony of a Metropolis) will be shown.
