Burning for something or burning up at something, soaring on the wings of freedom or hanging precariously in the air? Everything has two sides, including the associations with 'fire' and 'bird'. This year's Museum Soloist, percussionist Alexei Gerassimez, and jazz pianist Omer Klein explore this tension in their joint programme 'Firebird'. The inspiration and source material for their own compositions is one of the most complex works in the history of music: Stravinsky's 'Firebird' spreads its dazzling wings once again and, like a phoenix rising from the ashes, plunges into a sonic adventure full of lightness and passion, straight into chaos and back again.
