Jazz in Concert

JAZZ IN CONCERT is our programme designed to introduce school classes to the principles of jazz. Developed in collaboration with the 'Jazz and Improvised Music in Schools!' project, the series comprises four concerts – two aimed at Years 5 to 7 and two aimed at Years 7 to 10.

In the edition for younger children, the classic jazz song 'Take the A-Train' provides the basis for a jazz session featuring vocal interludes from the audience.

'Jazz and democracy' is the motto of the concert for secondary school students. This concert focuses on communication and interaction, exploring what groups and democratic societies can learn from the principles of jazz. These are also topics covered in social studies, political science, and history classes.

An optional training course is available for any teachers wishing to attend the concert with their classes.
