Singing along to Mozart’s Requiem

It can be a powerfully uplifting experience to add your voice to a choir – as anyone knows who has ever sung in one. The Alte Oper not only provides the opportunity for amateur singers to come together as a sonorous vocal ensemble for a special project, but at the same time also offers the appropriate venue for a performance of a jointly rehearsed masterpiece, namely Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem.

The programme
The concert by the enthusiasts’ choir will form part of the “Mainly Mozart” festival, for which the Alte Oper has joined forces with other major music institutions in Frankfurt. For an entire week in April 2023, the compositions of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart will shape Frankfurt’s cultural life. It is therefore only appropriate that a piece by Mozart is on the programme of the enthusiasts’ choir. Participants will perform his Requiem and bring it into dialogue with a contemporary piece for choir and orchestra.

You...
like to sing, can read music, have experience singing in a choir and have perhaps previously sung Mozart's Requiem? Whether you are a soprano, alto, tenor or bass, young or old, from Frankfurt, the region or even from further afield: if you want to be part of the enthusiasts’ choir, you should keep not only the date of the concert free in your calendar, but also the rehearsal dates. We look forward to hearing from you!

…and the others
Your musician colleagues will bring the experience that you perhaps still lack: joining in will be the choir and orchestra of the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts, conductors Florian Lohmann (Requiem) and Vassilis Christopoulos, and vocalists Kateryna Kasper, Sarah Romberger, Benjamin Bruns and Michael Nagy.
