The seminar for those thirsty for knowledge

On four occasions during the season, the foyer on Level 2 will be transformed into a seminar room for two hours when Dr Ulrike Kienzle guides her audience through musical and cultural history. Using sound examples, video projections, explanations and the occasional surprise guest, the programme engages with the respective evening’s follow-on concert. The musicologist will also engage in discussions with the audience. One example: when the London Symphony Orchestra presents different versions of Bruckner’s fourth symphony during an evening in the Great Hall, the seminar held on the preceding afternoon will focus on ‘Bruckner and the struggle for the correct version’. The break between seminar and concert leaves enough time for a relaxed dinner.
