Focus on Nicolas Altstaedt
Communicating through music
Being comfortable is not what Nicolas Altstaedt does. Nor is it in his repertoire to offer comfort. Yet, one of his highest concerns is maintaining close proximity to the audience. For him, music is primarily a means of communication. Altstaedt is constantly striving forwards. Standing still would mean the end of his artistic career. However, his diverse professions prevent him from that: He is one of the leading cellists in the world, the impassioned director of the Lockenhaus Chamber Music Festival, and the chief conductor of the Haydn Philharmonic. Altstaedt will be our guest four times in the 2019/20 season, not only displaying his broad artistic spectrum, but also giving a voice to climate protection and actively sustainable living.
